SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2017
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Conducts Stenographers (Grade C& D) exam. This exam mainly test candidates over Written Examination and Skill Test. These rounds is the main cornerstone for you to pass this exam. Once you clear the written exam, you will be called for skill.

SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2017 – Written Exam
Exam Pattern: Objective Type (MCQ)
Paper Medium: English & Hindi (Except part 3)
Time duration: 2 Hours (For VH 2 Hrs 40 Min)
Total Marks: 100
Negative Marking: Yes, There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
Candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in the Written Examination as may be prescribed by the Commission will only be called for the Skill Test.

SSC Stenographer Selection Process – Skill Test 2017
All the candidates who pass the Written Exam cut off will be called for Stenographer Skill Test. Performance in Written exam will be counted in final merit list preparation.
Exam Nature: Only Qualifying
Skill Test is qualifying in nature and does not contribute in merit list of the candidates. You will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade D. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only. If you forget to mention the medium in application form then it will be counted as English Medium.
This test will be held at regional offices and have timing as below.
Grade D Posts Timing: 50 minutes (English); 65 minutes (Hindi)
Grade C Posts Timing: 40 minutes (English); 55 Minutes (Hindi)
What next if i qualify the Skill Test in Stenographer Exam?
Now merit list will be prepared on the basis of written exam marks. And if two candidates TIE on the basis of marks then case will be resolved by matching date of birth and Name’s first alphabet.
Majorly three parameters will be taken into consideration,
- Marks in written exam [Part 1 Only]
- Date of birth, with older candidates placed higher.
- Alphabetical order in the first names of the candidates appear
Now if you qualify in both the rounds then you will declared as final selected candidates after Document verification.
